Contributed Paper Abstract

How Librarians Can Collaborate Together to Publish (and Survive!)

Rose L. Bland, Assistant Director, Systems; and Allison M. Howard, Catalog Librarian, Shimberg Health Sciences Library, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.

Purpose: To share our experiences collaborating together to write a book chapter.

Brief Description: Collaboration with colleagues can be either exhilarating or exasperating! Allison and Rose will share their experiences on their first collaborative undertaking to write a chapter on electronic resource statistics for the new book, “Building a Virtual Library.” They will share some of the writing and organization tips they learned along the way, pitfalls to avoid, and ways to collaborate AND remain friends!

Results/Outcome: The chapter was completed on schedule and we have continued to work together on other projects. The book is due out Summer/Fall 2002.
