Poster Abstract
Medical Handheld Applications for Practitioners, Information Professionals and Health Care Consumers

Purpose: Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) use continues to grow among consumers, librarians, and health care professionals. This poster session will demonstrate some of the practical medical applications that PDA devices can provide.
Brief Description: Instructional guides for PDA applications including a drug information database, medical eponyms, an EKG tutorial and a dynamic blood pressure tracking program. The fundamentals of each program will be displayed along with selected handheld basics. Opportunities will be available for hands-on interaction with the PDA.
Results and Outcome: Health information professionals will gain an increased awareness of clinical uses for PDA’s in medical and consumer health. Librarians will be better equipped to assist customers interested in medical uses for handheld devices as a result of learning the scope and possibilities of available medical applications.
