Located on the first floor of the library, the Reference Collection is a non-circulating collection of materials in both print and electronic format. The print collection is found in the tall stacks behind the Textbook Collection and are shelved alphabetically by title. The Reference collection is arranged by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classification scheme. Indexes and Abstracts, also located on the tall stacks, are shelved alphabetically by title. Electronic resources can be found on the Clinical Workstation desktop in the workstation area adjacent to the Reference area. The holdings can be found by searching Acorn and are indicated by the item type REF.

Materials included in the Reference Collection are selected based on their suitability to support the quick-answer and factual needs of users. Examples of the types of materials and the subject areas covered within the collection are listed below.

Textbook Collection

This non-circulating collection, also arranged by NLM Classification, contains a selection of medical textbooks. The Textbook Collection is located on the first floor of the library in the tall stacks near the elevators. It is composed of one or two textbooks within most major medical and nursing subject areas, and is a subset of the much more in-depth resources found in the third floor circulating collection. The Textbook Collection is a non-circulating collection. The holdings of this collection can be found by searching Acorn and are indicated by the item type TEXTBOOK.
