Lafayette Benedict Mendel

(1872-1935)

Educated at Yale University and in Breslau and Freiburg, Germany. Held positions at Yale University where he mentored a large number of doctoral students. Research on protein and amino acid nutrition with Thomas Osborne and with him discovered vitamin A. Author of "Nutrition, the Chemistry of Life."
