Harry Steenbock
(1886-1967)
Educated primarily at the University of Wisconsin, but briefly at Yale University and in Berlin with Carl Neuberg. Held positions at the University of Wisconsin. Research on vitamins A and D and nutritional anemia. Took out patent on irradiation of foodstuffs with ultraviolet light to convert plant constituents to vitamin D. Instigated the formation of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation to which he gave the patent. Collector of art.
