Welcome to the Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library!

The Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL) is the hub of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center's information services and resources. EBL collects and provides access to materials to support the teaching, research, and service missions of the Medical Center.

EBL seeks to provide access to information at the point of need, be it the user desktop or clinical rounds. We provide web access to over 2,100 full-text electronic journal titles as well as online databases and full-text books. Information specialists also help students, residents, and faculty members stay abreast of the latest literature by participating on clinical rounds and providing targeted support to researchers. Additionally, the library has established a program to provide VUMC patients and their families with the latest in health information. Library staff also offer orientations and training sessions regularly.

As part of the Informatics Center, a federally designated Integrated Advanced Information Management System (IAIMS) test site, the library staff work in partnership with researchers in the Division of Biomedical Informatics and the Information Management Department to innovate the delivery of health information to Vanderbilt and to the larger regional community.

The construction of this award-winning library building was made possible by a gift from Vanderbilt Alumnus Irwin Eskind and his wife, Annette.
