Strategies to Promote Nutritional Intake for Persons with Dementia - Tips for Family Caregivers

Many older adults with dementia do not eat and drink a sufficient amount to maintain a healthy weight.  Simple strategies are effective but time-consuming for care providers.  Dr. Simmons, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics at Vanderbilt University, has conducted multiple studies in the long-term care setting focused on improving food and fluid intake among persons with dementia.  She will explain why this aspect of care can be challenging and describe specific strategies that care providers can use to promote nutritional health.
