Chronic stress and habitual emotional responses typically characterize the chronic pain cycle and may significantly increase the experience of suffering and distress. The goal of the Mindfulness for Pain Therapy Group is to give persons with chronic pain the tools and skills to flourish in their lives, with or without pain. The practice of mindful awareness nurtures reconnection to the body in a kind gentle way and allows for the non-judgmental exploration of emotions and thoughts that are a part of the pain experience.
This group facilitates understanding of how thoughts and emotions affect physical symptoms and teaches methods of mindful awareness in a supportive, safe, and accepting group environment.
The group will be limited to 12 people for a once a week 6 week series. Because a significant part of the benefit of any group is learning and sharing together in a kind, accepting, and safe environment, members are asked to commit to the entire 6 week series.
