The School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt is Now Accepting Applications for the Class of 2016
The School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt (SSMV) is a joint venture between Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). The SSMV offers high school students a four-year, interdisciplinary, research-centered learning experience at one of the nation's most prestigious universities, where internationally recognized faculty are leading the way in diverse fields of scientific study.
The SSMV is currently in its fifth year. Last May the SSMV graduated its first cohort of students who now attend some of the nation's top colleges and universities.
Twenty-six students will be selected for the class of 2016 on the basis of test scores, grades, personal essays, and teacher recommendations. Students who complete the four-year program will earn an additional seven honors science elective credits. Applications will be accepted from current 8th grade students who will attend MNPS high schools.
