Surgery Research Collaborative to discuss the role of claudin-1 regulating Notch and Wnt signaling in colon cancer
Punita Dhawan, Ph.D. will discuss, "Claudin-1 in Colon Cancer: Implication in the regulation of Notch and Wnt signaling" at the next Department of Surgery's Research Collaborative.
Dhawan is Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Cancer Biology. Her research focus is on claudins, metastasis, tumorigenesis, signal transduction and trafficking, and cell death and differentiation. She is focused on understanding the role of claudin-1 in colorectal cancer progression and metastasis.
The Department of Surgery Research Collaborative was developed to provide synergy between the basic sciences and clinical research as a means of enhancing research opportunities within the Section of Surgical Sciences.
The Collaborative hosts meetings the second Tuesday of every month in Conference Room 7455 MRB IV from 5-6 p.m., offering opportunities for informal discussion as well as presentations from both the basic sciences and translational research. Section faculty, residents, fellows and staff are invited and encouraged to attend.
