Why Use This Microscope?

This microscope is well suited for viewing samples in dishes or mounted on non-standard slides or other formats that can not be used with the upright microscope.

This microscope does not have immersion lenses and is not practical for quantitative or fast dynamic imaging.

Location: 742 Light Hall

Imaging Modes:

Fluorescence and Transmitted Light, including Phase and DIC

Detector/Cameras:

    Nikon DXM1200C

Fluorescence filters: (excitation/emission)

    UV/Blue ( for blue dyes such as DAPI and Hoechst)
    Blue/Green (for green labels such as Cy-2 and FITC-like dyes)
    Green/Red ( for Cy-3, Texas Red, or Rhodamine-like dyes

Objective lenses:

    10x / 0.25 N Plan Ph1 air
    20x / 0.40 N Plan Ph1 air(corr)
    40x / 0.55 N Plan Ph2 air(corr)
    40x / 0.55 N Plan DIC air(corr)

Charges: $35
