About Us
Our Mission: To promote patient and professional satisfaction with healthcare experiences and restrain escalating costs associated with patient dissatisfaction.
The Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy (CPPA) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is the home for numerous PARS® program clients, education program offerings, consultation services, and PARS-related research publications.
Established in 2003, the CPPA serves private, public and academic medical centers and medical groups in their pursuit to make medicine kinder and safer. With a wide variety of offerings based on over 20 years of research, CPPA tackles many of the important issues facing medicine today:
- Disclosure of unexpected outcomes
- Joint Commission Sentinel Event Alert 40 on disruptive behavior
- Why some physicians are more suit-prone than their peers (and how to identify them)
Our Vision: To be a recognized leader in ongoing quality improvement, promotion of patient safety, and reduction of malpractice risk through interventions based on patient and family assessments of healthcare services.
