| Rabbit Ear Excision Model: | Includes four full thickness excisions (down to the cartilage) on the interior aspect of ear. Average study duration: 7-28 days |
| Parameters: | Wound closure, histology, morphometry, laser doppler perfusion imaging, biomechanical analysis |
Analysis Tools:
For in situ testing of wound closure strength in a destructive or nondestructive format.
Typically used in rodents with incisional wounds not more that 10 days old.
For in situ testing of blood perfusion around and in healing wounds (excisional or dead space). Data to be collected over course of a study.
For testing strips of skin 1 cm wide and 3-5 cm long that includes the area of interest (healed wound or normal skin). Data is a terminal measure of breaking strength.
Includes digital photograph of excisional wounds over the course of the study. Makes use of analytical software to measure wound closure over time.
In cooperation with the SDRC Morphology Core the Phenotype Core will provide analysis of results based upon H/E, trichrome and other available staining regimes. (Morphology core and Phenotype core charges apply)
In cooperation with the SDRC Morphology Core the Phenotype Core will provide analysis of results based upon reepithelialization, quantification of other markers of wound healing (presence of collagen, granulation tissue, inflammation, angiogenesis.)
(Morphology core and Phenotype core charges apply)
For determining percentage of collagen in harvested wounds. Total collagen and other amino acid determinations available as well as elastin.
Colorimetric determination of protein in samples. Typically done in conjunction with HPLC.
Colorimetric determination of DNA in samples. Typically done in conjunction with HPLC.
Includes preparation and adminstration of gene bearing plasmids into wound sites or normal skin with the use of the Helios (BIORAD) Gene Gun.
Includes the above plus diabetic induction and monitoring.
Custom Services available upon request. Our surgical expertise and technological capability are adaptable to your application.
