Kyle Arneson

I am just beginning my third year of graduate work in the Robert's Lab.  I came to Nashville in 2001 after being accepted into the Vanderbilt Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).  I have survived the culture shock after growing up on a farm in northeastern North Dakota and receiving my B.S. in Chemistry from the University of North Dakota.  My research interests revolve around oxidative damage caused by hyperoxia especially in the central nervous system.  We are looking for novel biomarkers of oxidative damage formed preferentially in hyperoxic conditions as well as looked at novel in vivo and in vitro models of hyperoxia.  My free time involves playing baseball and softball most evenings as well as working on my house and in my garden.  After my graduate research is completed, I have two more years of medical school to complete before I can begin my residency and explore post-doctoral research options.

Aaron Przybysz

After graduating from Kalamazoo College with a BA in Chemistry, Aaron turned his attention to the study of pharmacology in order to better understand the physiology of drug interactions in organisms and how pharmaceutical agents can possibly be used to ameliorate disease states.  Currently, Aaron is completing research on how the route of administration may affect the efficacy of antioxidants to prevent  the formation of Isoprostanes in a rodent model system.  Once this research is completed, Aaron will then shift his attention to elucidating the genes involved in regulating the cellular oxidative-stress response.

Yao Luo

I am currently attending Brentwood High School and is a rising senior. Working as a temporary technician is my first job in a university laboratory. Most of my job involves with discovering a faster, more accurate quantification assay for Isoketal formed in body tissues. I am still trying to learn things from other members of the lab since the highest level of science I have taken is AP Biology. I enjoy tweaking new electronic gadgets and designing websites during my free time and I look forward to going into medical field after one more year of high school.

Rest of the lab member introductions are coming up.
