SOC Questions
1.
When I go to the site I see the VUMC logo but nothing
else.
A: The webinservice site is not rendered
correctly using Netscape 4.79. It does work with Netscape
4.72 and with all versions of IE.
2.
I am unable to login to the site.
A: This is most likely (99%) because you
are a new employee. If you are not a new employee, please
contact Jordan Markwell (3-7266).
3.
I took the SOC training but I don't see a link for the
Test.
A: Logoff and log back in. This should refresh
your My Personal Page. You can also try to Refresh your
screen without logging out.
NS Browser - hold down the Shift key and click on the
Reload button. You can also right-mouse click next to
the lesson (e.g., HIPAA training, etc.) and then choose
Reload Frame while holding down the Shift key.
IE Browser - click on the Refresh button. You can also
right-mouse click next to the lesson (e.g., HIPAA training)
and then choose Refresh from the gray box that pops up.
4.
I took the SOC test but forgot to print the results.
A: Go to your Lesson Plan and print this
page. It shows date of completion and test score.
5. I am on a Clinic
workstation and the Standards of Conduct video only offers
Quicktime and Real Player movies. The Clinic workstations
don't have either of these programs.
A: Currently the VUMC webserver only streams in these
two formats. You don't actually have to watch the movie
to satisfy the requirements of
the Standards of Conduct. Just read the SOC and take the
test.
6. I have completed
the SOC Test, do I need to complete and FAX a Pledge Card?.
A: No. If you have completed the on-line SOC "test"
you do not need to sign or FAX a Pledge Card to our office.
If you have trouble with the on-line "test",
you can always FAX us the Pledge Card.
7. I can't take
the on-line training (SOC or HIPAA).
A: Classroom sessions are being conducted for the HIPAA
training. Contact Jim Hollenders office at 3-3853.
A: The Pledge Card can be printed from the web http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/compliance/pledge.htm,
completed and FAXED to the Compliance Office - 3-9138.

A: The page is a "framed page" (it is two pages)
so if the top portion of the page has the "focus"
then only that page is printing (which is blank except
for the VUMC logo). You need to make the bottom page the
"focus". You do this by clicking on the bottom
part of the page (click anywhere next to your scores)
and then clicking on the Print button. Alternatively,
you can right-mouse click on the bottom portion of the
screen and select the Print option from the gray popup
box.

Where can I find a list of Annual Training Requirements
for staff?
A: Staff can go to
http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/learning-center/safety/vumc_training_staff4.htm
This page gives information on Vandy Safe training (Safety
Fair on-line) as well as training that is taken through
webinservice (SOC, Conflicst of Interest, Debarment, Confidentiality
Agreement, etc.)

This page gives information on Vandy Safe training (Safety

HIPAA Questions
1. I can't
view the HIPAA training or am having trouble navigating.
A: Screen
resolution problem. Optimized for 1024 x 768 but should
work o.k. in 800 x 600.
A: Also does not work well on Mac platform, please find
a PC

A: If you are new VUMC
staff, you have taken the HIPAA training in Hearts and
Minds. If you are not a new employee, please contact the
Privacy Office.
