The Vanderbilt/NIMH Silvio O. Conte Center for Neuroscience Research invites you to attend the next installment in the public outreach seminar series, featuring Mimi Baird.
Ms. Baird will read from and discuss her book, He Wanted the Moon, The Madness and Medical Genius of Dr. Perry Baird, and His Daughter's Quest to Know Him.
The book recounts the story of physician and researcher Dr. Perry Baird, and his struggle, both personally and professionally, with manic depressive disorder. Baird’s experiments, motivated by his own illness and untold until now, constitute the first experimental efforts to explore the origins of bipolar disorder, preceding by decades the introduction of effective medications.
This seminar will include readings from the book, a question and answer session with author Mimi Baird, as well as a book signing. Copies of her book will be available for purchase at the event.
This event is free and open to the public.
