| Introduction |
Dr. Ann Minnick joined Vanderbilt University School of Nursing as the Julia Eleanor Chenault Professor of Nursing and has recently accepted the additional role of Senior Associate Dean for Research. Prior to her arrival at Vanderbilt, Minnick served as Associate Dean of Research and Support Services at Rush University College of Nursing where she was responsible for conducting and promoting research conducting related to nursing and health care systems.
Dr. Minnick earned her baccalaureate degree in nursing at Michigan State University, a master’s degree in medical surgical nursing at Loyola University of Chicago and a doctorate at Northwestern University, Evanston.
Dr. Minnick has held a variety of academic, service and research positions throughout her career. Her current research concerns are issues related to health service delivery, nursing human resources and patient-centered care. She has led numerous national grants that have influenced nursing and health care and has acted as a consultant to educational and service institutions as well as state and federal agencies. She has completed several international projects supported by professional societies and foreign governments. Recently, she received the SAGE award in recognition of outstanding advisement and mentorship of nurse leaders in academic, clinical and policy roles. Dr. Minnick is the author of more than 80 articles and research reports.
