The NPF Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt has an active outreach program. Directed by Nicole Teed, the outreach program sponsors a number of events, including monthly support groups for patients and their families, and a separate caregiver support group. Educational programs have included presentations on a wide range of topics, from exercise and massage therapy to programs on managing healthcare and medication insurance. We also present extensive programs in the community, at senior centers, nursing homes, churches and health fairs throughout Tennessee and southern Kentucky. We are always interested in reaching out. If you are planning a community health event, please contact our office to see if we can provide a speaker or host an information booth. We believe that information and education help people cope with the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Our resource library includes informational booklets on a number of topics related to Parkinson’s disease. The NPF also publishes a quarterly magazine with updated information about their programs and research on Parkinson’s disease. These written materials can be requested through our office and are mailed to you at no charge.
