National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is one of 39 institutions world-wide that has been designated as a National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence. The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) is the world’s largest private organization serving people and families affected by Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. The Foundation promotes research aimed toward developing new treatments and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s and related disorders, and supports programs for improving care and quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s disease.

With the generous support of the National Parkinson Foundation, the Vanderbilt Center of Excellence has been able to expand it’s programs of basic and clinical research, clinical care, and outreach for Parkinson’s Disease and related disorders. Among the latter is Multi-System Atrophy (previously called Shy-Drager disease), which has been supported by the NPF through the generosity of the late Mr. Nathan Blaser.
