National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been designated as a National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, one of approximately 50 such centers worldwide. The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) is the world’s largest private organization dedicated to promoting research aimed to uncover the causes and develop a cure for Parkinson’s disease and related disorders.

The National Parkinson Foundation has generously supported the development of basic and clinical research, clinical care, and outreach programs concerning Parkinson’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorder by establishing the NPF Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt. The Center focuses on work on Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Among the latter is Multi-System Atrophy (previously called Shy-Drager disease), which has been supported by the NPF through the generosity of Mr. Nathan Blaser.
