On May 16, 2007 The Vanderbilt Diabetes Center presented its annual Diabetes Day. The VDRTC Diabetes Day gathers VDRTC-affiliated investigators at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center. After a box lunch, attendees heard presentations by four VDRTC-affiliated investigators, participated in a poster session from VDRTC-affiliated laboratories, and attended a seminar by Richard Bergman from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. This year's Diabetes Day symposium will highlight VDRTC-affiliated research through presentations by Vanderbilt investigators: David Wasserman, Mark Magnuson, Alp Ikizler and Bettina Beech; a poster session of research from VDRTC-affiliated laboratories; and a presentation by George Eisenbarth, M.D., Ph.D., Executive Director of the Barbara Davis Center; Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine & Immunology; Program Deputy Director, The Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center, University of Colorado.

On November 2, 2006, The Vanderbilt Diabetes Center presented the Irwin B. Eskind, M.D. Diabetes Research Symposium. This symposium honored Dr. Eskind and was entitled "Preventing Diabetic Complications in the 21st Century."
