About the Library - Microsoft Office Workstations

These workstations (located on the first floor before the study carrels) are equipped with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and are reserved for VUMC primary clientele. Please use your VUNet ID and password to login.

Use Policies:

  • Printing is not available from these workstations. Please save your work to a disk or email it to yourself to print elsewhere.
  • Files saved on these machines are deleted nightly and every time the computer is restarted.
  • Please limit your use of these machines to projects for VUMC work or assignments only.
  • Please be courteous to waiting users and limit your time.

The library has investigated the possibility of adding Microsoft Office applications to all of the public workstations (maintained by Network Computing Services). At this time, adding such applications is not feasible as NCS does not provide support for the Office suite. Patrons can use online programs with features similar to Microsoft Office, such as those offered by Google Docs, Zoho, or Adobe Buzzword. These web-based applications offer a variety of functions such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications.
