Services
The Eskind Biomedical Library and Knowledge Management - two arms of the information experts team - provides a number of services to support the information needs of the Vanderbilt community. These include the Clinical, Patient, and Research Informatics Consult Services which place information specialists at the patient bedside or the research bench where they identify and meet information needs. EBL also facilitates the Vanderbilt community's understanding of information resources and use through customized training sessions and synchronous and asynchronous assistance services.
In addition to the broad services listed below, EBL/KM provides a number of services supporting the goals of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. For example, to enable informed patient decision-making, EBL/KM provides links to consumer health information explaining diseases/conditions and lab findings/vital signs within the medical center's online patient portal, MyHealthAtVanderbilt, and the medical center's electronic medical record system, StarPanel. Information specialists also provide expert assistance in locating SNP information related to the BioVU genetic data project and training on genetics-related data and information resources.
