Vanderbilt Specific Training

Vanderbilt Hospital Incident Command System Training
This course reviews the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS). and how it is implemented at Vanderbilt. Participants review Vanderbilt's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and take part in a simulation exercise. Sessions are half-day, open to all Vanderbilt faculty and staff, and offered quarterly by the Dept. of Emergency Preparedness [see calendar for dates]. Advance registration required. Call 343-3189.

Emergency Management Institute
Courses and programs for the development and delivery of emergency management training to enhance the capabilities of federal, state, local, and tribal government officials, volunteer organizations, and the public and private sectors to minimize the impact of disasters on the American public. EMI curricula are structured to meet the needs of this diverse audience with an emphasis on how the various elements work together in emergencies to save lives and protect property. [details]

Noble Training Center
Develops, conducts, and evaluates emergency management training through background presentations, planning sessions, and exercise based simulations to enhance the national response to natural and technological disasters and acts of terrorism. [details]

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)
Provides information to help establish and maintain an effective CERT program and network with people throughout the United States and its territories regarding CERT activities. [details]

Incident Command System/Unified Command System
This train-the-trainer course prepares participants to deliver EMI's ICS curricula. While ICS 100 and 200 courses are addressed, the major emphasis is on ICS 300 and 400. [details]

FEMA Independent Study Programs

IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System, I-100
This self-stufy course provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). [details]

IS 700 - National Incident Management System (NIMS).
NIMS was developed by the Secretary of Homeland Security to integrate effective practices in emergency preparedness and response into a comprehensive national framework for incident management. NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. This course introduces NIMS; explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits; and contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an opportunity to complete some planning tasks during this course. The course is offered online and takes approximately three hours to complete. [details]
