LECTURER

  Jay Jerome, Ph.D.

My training is in cell biology with an emphasis on correlating structural and biochemical information to understand cell function. This usually involves quantitation of light and electron microscopic information for comparison with biochemical measures of intracellular reactions. My research program centers around two topics. The first is the role of abnormal cholesterol metabolism in disease. Currently we focus on disregulation of lysosomal cholesteryl ester hydrolysis. The second interest is in the role of endothelial cells in regulating blood clot formation and clot lysis. Here we are primarily interested in the role of integrins in this process.
