Zent, M.D.
Roy Zent, M.D. is a clinical scientist in the Department of Medicine,
Division of Nephrology. He does predominantly basic research but has
a clinical interest in glomerular disease. His laboratory works on
the basic role of integrins in epithelial cell biology. They use biochemical
techniques as well as cell biology and whole organ culture to understand
the basic mechanisms whereby integrin-ECM interactions modify epithelial
cell function. They primarily focus on the role of cell-ECM interactions
in renal branching
morphogenesis as well as how integrins determine the localization
of transporters in epithelial cell structures.
