James C. Jackson, PsyD
Assistant Professor of Medicine

James Jackson, PsyD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine and the Center for Health Services Research at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He earned his PsyD degree in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University in July 2001 and completed a psychology residency at the Vanderbilt/VA Psychology Consortium. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Oliver Zangwill Center at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely, England in the summer of 2011, where he received intensive training in cognitive rehabilitation. He is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in neuropsychological outcomes research and studies psychological (e.g. depression and PTSD) and cognitive functioning in survivors of critical illness as well as the effects of cognitive rehabilitation in ICU survivors with brain injuries. He is a National Institute of Aging funded investigator.

Dr. Jackson has authored or coauthored over 45 scientific publications and has also written many book chapters, while frequently presenting scientific abstracts and giving invited lectures at national or international meetings on topics related to cognitive impairment and psychological distress in critically ill populations.
