Research Assistant
Ms. Gillian Sills, BS, joined the ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in 2011 as a Research Assistant I to Dr. Tim Girard and Dr. Lorraine Ware. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida in 2009. Gillian manages the laboratory investigations for the ICU Delirium Team performing experiments which employ various analytic techniques such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and the latest high-throughput assays for multidetection of biochemical samples (MesoScale Discovery). She is the organizational coordinator for patient samples for large multicenter clinical trials.
Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, Gillian volunteered in New Zealand working on conservation biology and preservation of endangered species with International Student Volunteers. In the Buck Lake Conservation Area of Brevard/Seminole County, she worked as a Vertebrate Zoologist doing field research surveying species of flora and fauna. After working with HIV education outreach within the juvenile detention centers in Orlando, FL she also advocated and raised HIV awareness with Lifelong AIDS Alliance in Seattle, WA.
