Frequently asked Password questions

...... Why am I receiving an error message stating my UserID is revoked?
...... If you try to enter an incorrect password more than four times, the system will revoke your UserID.

...... How do I get unrevoked?
...... You will need to call the Help Desk at 3-4357 to be reinstated.

...... My Clinical Workstation password has expired. What do I do?
...... New Clinical Workstation passwords must contain at least 5 but no more than 8 characters and use at least one number as a character. No special characters are permitted (!&^%$#). Your new password must be unique in relation to those used previously.

...... Is there a difference between a Clinical Workstation, Blue Cross Blue Shield, DB2/QMF, Epic, StarPanel, Medipac, RACF, TPX, and Wizorder UserID?
...... NO, Information Management has a goal for the UserIDs to be consistent when logging into these applications. Logging into Blue Cross Blue Shield applications is the exception. Blue Cross Blue Shield UserIDs must have a V as their first character. UserIDs that do not begin with the letter V must preface their id with a V when logging into Blue Cross Blue Shield resources. For example, UserID VCXZAQW would not need to add the extra letter because the UserID already begins with a V but userid CXZAQWE would need to enter VCXZAQWE when logging into Blue Cross Blue Shield resources.

...... Is there a difference between a Clinical Workstation, Blue Cross Blue Shield, DB2/QMF, Epic, StarPanel, Medipac, RACF, TPX, and Wizorder Password?
...... YES, Although UserIDs are consistent across these applications, passwords are not automatically synchronized between each of them. For example, Epic passwords are not synchronized with the other applications. If your Epic password changes, it DOES NOT automatically get changed for the other applications. However, if you change your Clinical Workstation password, it will automatically be synchronized to the DB2/QMF, Medipac, and Wizorder applications.

...... How do I obtain a UserID for DB2/QMF, Epic, Medipac, OPOC, StarPanel, or Wizorder?
...... These UserID's are administered by the Informatics Center. Your departmental Security Administrator will electronically submit a Systems Access request on your behalf via the VUMC Request for System Access website for processing.
Please call the Informatics Center Help Desk at 343-4357 if you are not sure who serves as the Security Administrator for your department.

...... How often do passwords expire?
...... Clinical Workstation, DB2/QMF, Epic, OPOC, Medipac, StarPanel, and Wizorder passwords are set to expire every 90 days. Blue Cross Blue Shield passwords are set to expire every 45 days. VUnet ID passwords do not expire.

...... How do I get my Email password reset?
...... If you have not registered for an e-password, the VUMC Help Desk can Reauthorize your VUnet ID to allow you to set a new password for access to Outlook or VUmail email.

...... I cannot log into Outlook Email.
...... Outlook Email requires the VUnet ID and password. Your VUnet ID must be authorized/activated prior to using it to log in to your Email. If you have registered for an e-password, you must use your VUnet ID and e-password to log in to your Outlook email.

...... I cannot log into StarPanel, the screen indicates "Bad Login".
...... First, ensure that you are accessing the correct url.
The url for StarPanel is http://starpanel.mc.vanderbilt.edu

If you already have access to StarPanel, you may have entered an invalid password. Please note that STAR and CWS (Clinical Workstation) passwords DO NOT synchronize when changed. The CWS password will expire every 90 days. If you would like your Star browser password to match your CWS password, you will need to access StarPanel on an Administrative workstation and change your password to match the CWS password.
To ensure that all future web browser sessions on your Administrative machine are checking the server for up-to-date patient data, check your browser's settings to ensure that "Every visit to page" is selected in the "Check for newer versions of stored pages:" section in the Settings section.
To access the Settings section, click on Tools then select Internet Options then click on the Settings button. Ensure that the option "Every visit to the page" is selected. Click OK and then OK at the next screen to save these changes.
If you have never accessed StarPanel, you will need to request access through your departmental Security Administrator. The VUMC Confidentiality Agreement is located on the Information Security home page.

...... I cannot log into EPIC. The message says "No Password Prompt".
...... Your "CAPS LOCK" key may be on. Epic passwords are case sensitive.

...... I cannot log into PMM.
...... The Informatics Center Help Desk can reset your PMM password. PMM accounts are administered by Information Management. Your departmental Security Administrator will submit a "VUMC Request for System Access" request to the Systems Access Maintenance team in Information Management for processing. Nurse managers or the Administrative Assistant should submit the PMM Clinical Requisition Access Request form.

...... I cannot log into Blue Cross Blue Shield.
...... Blue Cross/Blue Shield UserId/Password issues are administered by BC/BS in Chattanooga. Help Desk staff cannot reset these passwords. Effective 01/14/02, BC/BS began requiring users who had password problems to call their Help Desk directly at 423-755-5717. An automated announcement will respond. The user should ask for SUPPORT or E-COMMERCE if the call rolls over to the BC/BS Operator.

...... I cannot log into the Pyxis Pharmacy cabinet.
...... Pyxis passwords are administered by the main Pharmacy.
