OUTLOOK

Public Folders

Overview

In the Vanderbilt implementation of Outlook, Public Folders are available which allow users to share information and features of the system. These folders can be any type of Outlook folder:  An Inbox, Calendar, Task List, Contact List, etc.  This tutorial demonstrates how to open and use one specific Public Folder, but the same basic steps can be used to open any folder.

Remember that in order to access a Public Folder, you must first be given the appropriate level of permissions. If you need to view or use a Public Folder that you do not have rights to, contact the owner of the folder or your LAN Manager for assistance.

This tutorial describes the use of two specific items:  The Key Contacts & Assistants folder and the Access and Review Team calendar.  The general information applies to any type of Public Folder, however.

NOTE: The illustrations in this tutorial were created with Outlook 2003.  If you are using Outlook 2002 or earlier, the features described should be available to you, they just may look different or be in a different location.
