AMCAS Application

As a convenience to the applicant, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine participates in the American Medical College Application Service. All application materials may be obtained through AMCAS.

2009 Applicants

For those of you who are considering applying to the 2009 First Year Class, you may complete your AMCAS application and indicate that you want your data sent to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine beginning June, 2008. You can submit your AMCAS application between June 1, 2008 through November 15, 2008. You should apply if you will have completed our required courses with a grade by completion of the fall 2008 semester. Note that we do not accept AP credit, CLEP credit, or PASS/FAIL credit for ANY of our required courses. We will accept advanced courses in the same disciplines in lieu of required courses to fulfill the semester hour requirements.

Vanderbilt secondary applications will be sent to about one-fourth of our applicant pool. We will have three faculty members give a holistic review of the AMCAS application in order to decide who will receive a secondary application and Vanderbilt interview. Every applicant will be notified by letter regarding whether an interview has been granted or the admissions process has ended for an applicant. Send letters of recommendation only if you have been invited to complete a Vanderbilt secondary application and have an interview.
