Early Acceptance Program for Vanderbilt Sophomores

An Early Acceptance Program was constructed to permit Vanderbilt students an opportunity to take academic risks and/or perform scholarly work. Mid-January to March of the sophomore year, Vanderbilt students may apply for early acceptance in the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. The deadline for applying to the Early Acceptance Program is March 15th. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of a 3.5 at the time of application. Applicants are expected to have earned at least 60 hours of credit in courses at Vanderbilt by the end of the sophomore spring semester and have completed half of the required science courses by that time as well. Three letters of evaluation are also required. Success in the program couples evidence of academic excellence with a defined proposal for accomplishing the goals of the program. If granted early acceptance, the applicant is assured a place in the first year class after graduation if a minimum GPA of 3.5 is maintained and the applicant remains in good standing. The early acceptance offer if accepted by the student is binding so that an application cannot be made to any other medical school. If the application is not accepted, the rejection is not held against the applicant for future reapplications.

No AP credit, CLEP credit, or PASS/FAIL credit is accepted for required courses in English and sciences. Advanced courses in the same discipline may be substituted for the requirements when the applicant has placed out of the entry level course.
