Important Dates

Filing Deadline

The deadline for submitting an application to AMCAS for Vanderbilt is November 15. When the electronic application is received in the admissions office, it is screened, and the applicant receives either a secondary application, which invites an interview, or a letter ending the application process. Completed secondary applications, letters of recommendation, and application fee must be received by the day of the interview and no later than December 31.

When To Expect Decision Letters

Decision letters generally go out about 6-8 weeks from the date of interview. The earliest date an admissions decision can be made available to the applicant is October 15.

June 4

• Earliest date for submission of application to the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).

August 1

• Early Decision Plan (EDP) Applicants must apply prior to this date.

October 1

• Early Decision Plan (EDP) Applicants will receive a decision by this date.

October 15

• Earliest date of acceptance notice to regular applicants.

November 15

• Latest date for submission of application to AMCAS.
• Latest date for submission of application as well as official transcripts arriving to AMCAS. Deadline for Vanderbilt University Students who were invited under the Early Acceptance Program for the 2009 FYC at Vanderbilt University to submit 2009 AMCAS application for the Early Assurance Program. Early Acceptance Program Invitees should select Early Assurance Program for application type on the AMCAS Application.
• Deadline for Deferred Students to the 2009 FYC to submit 2009 AMCAS application. Select Deferred for Application Type on the AMCAS application.

VU Secondary application deadline

• Vanderbilt University secondary applications should be submitted before scheduling the interview. December 31 is the last day that a secondary application can be submitted. Submitting applications late in the admissions season may compromise opportunities for a position at this school. It is important for applicants to realize that early completion of the final application may increase the likelihood for admission and merit based scholarships.
