In the Classroom
- KnowledgeMap allows students to access the text and PowerPoint files of every lecture given to medical students. From Anatomy 101 to the Clerkship in Psychiatry, every part of the curriculum is available. KnowledgeMap also uses a unique "concept mapping" search engine which allows students to put together concepts from across their four years of education here.
- WiFi Wireless Networking is available throughout the medical center and main campus. This gives students the ability to access the web and network resources everywhere on campus, from the classroom to Starbucks down the street. Many local coffee shops and restaurants also have WiFi available for students.
- The VMS Portal is one stop shopping for medical students. The Portal pulls together class communications, curriculum pages, community events, and helpful resources.
- All classrooms and conference rooms throughout Light Hall are equipped with computers and LCD projectors.
- Many courses also use interactive websites to supplement lecture material. Check out the Interactive Histology Atlas and the Interactive Anatomy Companion to get a taste of what you can expect.
- The Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL), a unit of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Informatics Center, is the hub of the medical center's information services and resources. The EBL provides access to materials to support the patient care, healthcare education, and biomedical research missions of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
On the Wards
Vanderbilt leads the nation with its patented WizOrder and StarPanel systems. These tools have been constructed over the past decade in collaboration with clinicians, scientists, and software engineers. Whether at home or on the wards, labs, orders, radiology images, patient histories, and much more are all just a click away for clinicians.

In the Lab
Not all research takes place under a microscope and in test tubes. One example of this is the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health, a unique environment which brings together health care delivery, informatics, medical education, business, and innovation. Vanderbilt is using VCBH to accelerate the learning and change in delivery systems necessary to support transformation efforts in healthcare through the use of informatics. VCBH leverages the world-class assets of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as its unique capabilities in biomedical informatics and organizational change.
The Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
