Dr. Denis O'Day Biography
Dr. O'Day specializes in the management of corneal and external disease, with particular expertise in diagnosing difficult and unusual types of ocular infections and fungal disease. He is an accomplished surgeon specializing in corneal transplants. A Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Dr. O'Day has been a faculty member at Vanderbilt University since 1972, serving as the Chairman of the Department from 1992 to 2002. He continues to have a distinguished career in clinical research and teaching.
In 1987 Dr. O'Day was elected a director of the American Board of Ophthalmology and became its Executive Director in 1996. He continues to ensure that the patient-centered principles that guided the founding of the Board in 1916 remain today.
Dr. O'Day has authored over 190 scientific articles in refereed journals and contributed many chapters to texts on ophthalmology.
