Notification of Eligibility
Financial Aid Award Letters
The Financial Aid Award Letter identifies those programs for which the student is eligible. Each student will be awarded funds from the various programs to meet the total estimated cost of attendance.
When you receive the Award Letter, you must indicate the amounts accepted from each program, designate your lender of choice for the federal and private loans, sign, and return it within 21 days of receipt.
After you have returned the Award Letter, you may also need to apply online as well. New incoming students who are applying for Federal Stafford Loans must apply. Continuing Federal Stafford Loan borrowers do not need to re-apply unless you are changing lenders. New and continuing Federal Graduate Plus and Private Loan borrowers must apply each year. If you select one of our recommended lenders, click here. If you select another lender, you must apply online from that lender's website.
The award is subject to change in the event that you receive additional aid not reflected in the Award Letter. If you receive additional aid from any source, you are required to notify Student Financial Services. The receipt of additional aid may result in a reduction of funds awarded if total resources exceed the cost of attendance.
Departmental scholarships, grants, tuition awards, fellowships, etc., if awarded, are taken into consideration when determining your eligibility for financial aid and should be reflected on the Award Letter. Stipends may be considered as financial aid as well. If the stipend is considered as employment, it is not considered as financial aid.
A Cash Management Authorization Form must also be completed by new borrowers and will be included in the Award Letter packet. Most students will want to check "yes" for Authorization I and "no" for Authorization II.
The financial aid award is for one academic year. You must reapply each year. Renewal of prior years' financial aid is not automatic.
