American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Funding and Fellowships
The ASTMH offers various awards and fellowships for medical students and residents who express an interest in tropical medicine or international health.

American Academy of Pediatrics Resident International Travel Grant
The AAP offers grants to pediatric residents who wish to complete a clinical pediatric elective in the developing world.

American Medical Student Association – Creative Funding for International Health Electives
This AMSA website provides links to many international health scholarships for both students and those with advanced degrees.

AWHS Overseas Assistance Grant
This grant, funded by the American Women’s Hospitals Service, helps defray transportation costs of those engaged in off-campus research projects benefiting the medically underserved. AMWA members completing their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th years of medical school or in their residency may apply. Projects must be no shorter than six weeks and no longer than one year.

Child Family Health International Scholarships
CFHI offers half and full scholarships for its various programs. Programs are available for students in undergraduate, medical, nursing, PA, MPH, and psychology programs.

Christian Medical & Dental Associations
CMDA provides several scholarships for student and resident members who wish to go abroad as a rotation elective. They also offer a four year scholarship ($25,000/year) to medical students beginning their 1st or 2nd year who will go into full-time missions after graduation.

Fogarty International Center/Ellison Medical Foundation Overseas Fellowship in Global Health and Clinical Research
This fellowship for graduate-level students in the health sciences offers a one-year clinical research training experience at top-ranked, NIH-funded research centers in developing countries.

Howard Hughes Medical Institute – Research Grants for Individuals
HHMI grants are available for medical and dental students doing a year of research either in the US or abroad if the research mentor is affiliated with a US institution.

MedSend
MedSend offers student loan repayment grants to healthcare professionals who are entering a career in Christian medical missions and are sent out by a recognized missions agency.

O.C. Hubert Student Fellowship in International Health
This CDC Fellowship provides opportunities for third and fourth-year medical and veterinary students to gain public health experience in an international setting. The typical duration of a fellowship is four to twelve weeks.

Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarships
These scholarships, funded by the Rotary Foundation, allow for a full year of study at a foreign institution or an opportunity to attend either a 3 or 6 month intensive language school in a foreign country.

Sara’s Wish Foundation Scholarships
The Sara’s Wish Foundation awards scholarships “to young women committed to making the world a better place by fully participating in it.” Requirements include a commitment to public service and a strong record of scholarship.
