The goals of the Nashville Alopecia Areata Support Group are to provide support for people with alopecia areata in the Nashville area, to educate the public about alopecia areata, and to raise money for research and for people to go to the National Conference. Please follow the NAAF link for more information. The Sun Protection Project is a community service program which began in 2003. Each year, the Dermatology Interest Group sends medical students to elemetary schools to teach children about sun protection. The program begins with a cartoon slide show, followed by outdoor activities, and concludes with a game.
Medical students read a story called Project: Sunwise to go along with the cartoon.
Mary Alice Nading teaches the children that the suns rays are most dangerous when your shadow is shorter than you are.
