Elections and Logistics
The Student Curriculum Committee traditionally comprises 19 students:
Representatives to the Student Curriculum Committee are elected by their classmates at the same time as other class officers are chosen. Each student is elected for a one-year term. Once elected, Curriculum Committee members choose one student from each class to serve a one-year term as a voting member of the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee, the faculty committee which has primary responsibility for planning and maintaining the medical school curriculum. At the end of each academic year, the Student Curriculum Committee elects a rising third or fourth year student as Committee Chair for the following year. The Chair is responsible for providing student leadership and setting the Curriculum Committee’s agenda for the year. The Chair must also coordinate Curriculum Committee meetings, edit all course evaluations, and appoint the CANDLE committee and other committees as needed. The Chair serves as voting member of the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee. The Chairman of the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee serves as the direct link between the Student Curriculum
Committee and the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee. |
