Medical Education

The Office for Teaching and Learning in Medicine works to support the medical education mission of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. This includes building quality learning opportunities for medical students and residents, supporting faculty development around teaching and learning, advancing knowledge through scholarship in medical education, and providing educational services to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine administration.

Information about ongoing medical education programs and initiatives is available through the links to the left. OTLM is also affiliated with two educational support and research centers: the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (CELA) and the Center for Outcomes Research in Education (CORE). OTLM, CELA and CORE are part of the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Most medical schools in the United States have an office similar to OTLM. Though they may have different names, they are places where faculty and staff focus on innovation, research, evaluation, and professional development in medical education. The Society for Directors of Research in Medical Education has a list of links to Medical Education Research offices around the country.
