Oscar Guillamondegui, MD is an assistant professor of surgery in the division of trauma and surgical critical care. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he attended the University of Dallas as an undergraduate and University of Texas Medical Branch for medical school. Vowing never to leave the great state of Texas, he promptly completed a residency in general surgery at Oklahoma University and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. His interests include injury prevention and traumatic brain injury. His hobbies are cycling and fly-fishing, both of which he does poorly.

Dr. Schaefer is a member of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and serves as a transplant nephrologist. She received her undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh. Her interests include resident and student education; she was recently appointed assistant fellowship director, as well as medical risk factor management and psychosocial issues in kidney transplant recipients. On a personal note, her husband Adam T. Schaefer, a resident in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery recently graduated from Vanderbilt University medical school. They have one daughter, Madeline Avery Grace.
