Dr. Allos is a faculty member in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and in the Department of Preventive Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Emory University and her M.D. from University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Dr. Allos completed her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt in 1994. She also has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer. Her interests include immunization policy, foodborne illness, and healthcare-associated bloodborne infections. Dr. Allos teaches microbiology to first year medical students and is the course director for the upcoming Capstone course for fourth year students. Ban Allos and her husband, a Vanderbilt-trained general surgeon, have three small daughters. She is looking forward to her role as a medical student advisor and to the opportunity for greater interactions and friendships with students.

Amy Fleming is a newcomer to Vanderbilt University, and will be joining the Division of General Pediatrics as an assistant professor. She attended medical school at the University of Virginia, then entered the United States Air Force and completed her residency training at Wilford Hall Medical center in San Antonio Texas. She stayed on for an additional year as Chief Pediatric Resident. During her time in San Antonio, she developed a keen interest in education, which continued during her posting at the United States Air Force Academy. She achieved the rank of Major prior to separating from the Air Force, and took her leadership and educational interests and training to the University of Michigan. She has most recently been on faculty at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan as a pediatric hospitalist, and has been a core member of the team responsible for inpatient education of medical students and pediatric residents. Her husband is joining the Vanderbilt University faculty as a pediatric intensivist, and he and their three daughters are very excited about their relocation to Nashville. In her spare time she enjoys quilting, singing and playing soccer with the kids.
