Our major emphases are: 1) To determine the role of receptor tyrosine phosphatases (including CD148/DEP-1 and VE-PTP) in renal vascularization, and develop a new RPTP-mediated angiogenic/antiangiogenic therapy. 2) To define the key molecular players and pathways which mediate diabetic glomerular endothelial injury. For the second aim, we are investigating the role of eNOS-derived NO and oxidative/antioxidative enzymes (including NADPH oxidase and SODs) in the pathogenesis of murine diabetic nephropathy.
