The Core is also able to provide electron microscopic assessment, using the existing Electron Microscopy Core Laboratory for technical processing. The Core laboratory will provide expertise in harvesting and allocation of tissue for these studies, selection of appropriate areas from scout sections and analysis by electron microscopy. Examples of services provided include GBM width, ultrastructural alteration of GBM composition, podocyte injury, increase in mesangial matrix formation, endothelial injury, presence of immune complexes and many more. The Core laboratory can also provide morphometric analysis of interstitial fibrosis, and image analysis.
