| Pierre obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Biochemistry and Mass Spectrometry from the University of Paris Sud in Orsay, France. He is interested in research that combines cutting-edge mass spectrometry technology and other technologies for profiling, identifying, and mapping the spatial distribution of proteins directly in biological samples and the translation of these exciting new molecular technologies to the
investigation of diseased tissues. |

| Shannon received his Ph.D. from University of Georgia in 1993 and was Post-doctoral Fellow at City of Hope National Medical Center from 1993-1994. He then joined Bruker Daltonics where he spent eight years in research and development of commercial mass spectrometers. He has been principal designer of multiple research and commercial MALDI mass spectrometers as well as other ion sources. He joined the Vanderbilt group in 2002 to apply his interest and experience to developing new instrumental approaches for analyzing disease proteomics.
