University-Wide limited submission opportunity: 2013 Grant Program, Edward Mallinckrodt Jr. Foundation
Vanderbilt University may nominate two candidates for the Edward Mallinckrodt Jr. Foundation Grant Program. These awards provide $60,000 per year for up to three years for research that advances knowledge in the various fields of medical and health research. The foundation is most interested in basic research with potential for impacting disease.
Eligible faculty should be tenure-track faculty members who hold M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees. Ideal projects will (1) come from established investigators in need of initial start-up funding to move a project forward to the point of obtaining other independent funding or (2) to support highly promising young investigators with tenure-track appointments at the time when start-up funds are limited and initial progress is dependent on additional funding. It is not the intent to support projects that are already under way and are already receiving significant grant support. Click here for specific guidelines from the Foundation.
Anyone interested in being considered as one of Vanderbilt’s nominees must submit the following (in PDF format) to LSO@vanderbilt.edu by 5 p.m. on Nov. 27:
1. Brief (two-page maximum) research plan including summary budget
2. Brief statement of support from department chair/center director
3. A brief CV or NIH Biosketch
Submissions should reference the program name in the subject line of the email.
Once received, all proposals will be forwarded to an internal review committee that will choose the final nominees. The chosen nominees will submit a full proposal to the Foundation by the Feb. 1, 2013, deadline.
If you have any questions about the foundation or its interests and priorities, please contact Ashley Brady, Ph.D., associate director, Foundation Relations, at email@example.com or 343-4217.
