VUMC Social Media Policy, Toolkit Available Online

Did you know that Vanderbilt University Medical Center has a social media policy, one that has been cited and adopted by several other academic medical centers as a model?

The policy, adopted in late 2009, provides guidelines for VUMC faculty and staff participation on such platforms as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogs.

You can find the policy on the VUMC website, along with tips and resources, disclaimer language for personal accounts that identify you as a VUMC employee, best practices and descriptions of VUMC's evolving activity in social media.

Remember that before an official Vanderbilt-related Facebook page, Twitter feed or other social media account can be established, an application must be made and reviewed by the VUMC Social Media Team, who will help you with your strategy and make recommendations.
