NIH Limited Submission Funding Opportunity: PAR-11-228 High End Instrumentation Grant Programs (S10)
The NCRR High-End Instrumentation Grant (HEI) program encourages applications from groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase a single major item of equipment to be used for biomedical research that costs at least $750,000. The maximum award is $2 million. Instruments in this category include, but are not limited to, structural and functional imaging systems, macromolecular NMR spectrometers, high-resolution mass spectrometers, cryoelectron microscopes and supercomputers.

Investigators intending to apply to the S10 Shared Instrumentation program should submit an internal proposal to the VUMC Office of Research for review by the VUMC Institutional Shared Resource Oversight Committee (ISROC). The ISROC will resolve any conflicts between potentially overlapping proposals and recommend eligibility for School of Medicine matching funds.
Note: An internal proposal is required for projects that will request VUSM funding commitments. Proposals submitted on behalf of/in collaboration with a VUMC core facility or shared resource will be prioritized for VUSM commitments. Internal proposals must include the following information:
• Name and department of PI
• Names/departments of at least three NIH-funded major users
• Equipment details including type, model, manufacturer and estimated purchase cost
• Brief (one-page maximum) description including plans for integration into a shared resource/core facility, instrument management, operational support and user access and a brief listing of the major user research projects.
Internal proposals are due to the Office of Research no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13. Submissions may be made online using this webform. Late submissions will not be accepted.
If you have questions about this or any other limited submission funding opportunity, please contact Susan Meyn in the Office of Research at email@example.com or 322-0470.
