"Reading Pictures" Exhibit to Open at Fine Arts Gallery, Thursday, Aug. 25

The exhibit "Reading Pictures: Text and Image in Contemporary Art" will open at the the Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery on Thursday, Aug. 25. The exhibit is presented in conjunction with "The Book as Art:Beautiful Books," organized by the Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries.

A joint opening for these two exhibitions that explore books, the art and craft of fine binding and the intersection of text and image in contemporary art will take place on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Gallery and also at the Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries Gallery and Special Collections.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in Cohen Memorial Hall, 1220 21st
Ave. S., on the western edge of the Peabody College campus. The Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries Gallery and Special Collections are located at 419 21st Ave. S.

Accessible parking is available for the two primary reception locations. All events are free and open to the public. "Reading Pictures" will remain on view through Sept. 30. For more information, contact the Fine Arts Gallery at (615) 343-1704.
