Request for applications: 2012 National Academies Keck Futures Initiative

The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI), a project of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Medicine, with generous support from the W.M. Keck Foundation, is seeking candidates to apply for this year's conference on "The Informed Brain in a Digital World."

This year's conference will be held Nov. 15-17 at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, Calif., beginning with a welcome reception the evening of Nov. 14. Additional information about the conference is available at www.keckfutures.org/conferences/informed-brain.html.

The NAKFI Steering Committee on the Informed Brain in a Digital World will review all applications and select approximately 100 individuals to attend with their expenses being fully funded by NAKFI.

Following the conference, nearly $1 million in seed grant funding will be available to participants on a competitive basis in the amounts of $25,000, $50,000, $75,000 and $100,000. The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative will pay for all expenses related to participants' travel to and from the conference, and meals and lodging during the conference.
